Christ is Risen!

“See, what a morning, gloriously bright, With the dawning of hope in Jerusalem; Folded the grave-clothes, tomb filled with light, As the angels announce, “Christ is risen!” See God’s salvation plan, Wrought in love, borne in pain, paid in sacrifice, Fulfilled in Christ, the Man, For He lives: Christ is risen from the dead!” – Keith…

Majesty Mocked

In Matthew 27 we have an account of a series of events that took place in the lead up to Jesus Christ’s crucifixion. One of the scenes we have in this chapter is the despicable and demeaning way the soldiers treated Jesus. To them, Jesus was just another criminal. Matthew records it as follows,

How to Deal with Criticism – Part 1

We all know what it is like to be critical. Criticism in and of itself is not a bad thing. There is a cautious constrictive criticism and there is a careless censorious criticism. Cautioned criticism is regulated by the desire to be helpful, whereas censorious criticism is regulated by the desire to be destructive. The story of a young lawyer has been told:

Well then, what is…

True Peace

One time when Jesus was on a boat with His disciples a storm broke loose and the waves crashed into the boat and it started to flood with water. The disciples found Jesus peacefully sleeping in the stern of the boat, and fearing for the their lives they woke Him up. Jesus arose and said with boldness, “Peace, be still!” (Mark 4:39). Then there was a calm.

Contemplating the Cross

Many things in this world consume our minds and we can lead lives that are very busy leaving little time for contemplation. But this is damaging for us. Contemplation and consideration are important, especially when it comes to the things of God. The hymn writer Isaac Watts (1674-1748) wrote these amazing words in his hymn When I Survey the Wondrous Cross,
